Thank you to all who attended!

Eligible for 2 CFRE Credits! | You’ve asked us for help with individualized stewardship plans and we’ve been listening. We are pleased to offer ADRP’s first virtual hands-on workshop: Developing Individualized Stewardship Plans that Are Strategic and Actionable. This session is for anyone who wants to develop a strategy for stewarding a donor to your institution. It will be most helpful to those working with a complex relationship and nuanced strategic goals.

Over the course of two hours, attendees will hear from Anthony Amettis, Associate Director of Donor Relations, and Mary Weingartner, Director of Donor Relations, at the University of Chicago. Mary and Anthony will be joined by Andrea Arnetson-Harris, Director of Donor Relations, and Joanna Riester, Vice President, Community and Donor Engagement, at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation. Presenters will talk about their individualized stewardship programs, principles, and partnerships. Attendees will then work in small, facilitated groups to develop individualized stewardship plans for a donor to their institution.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants can expect to have a 12-month plan for engaging a single donor or household, as well as principles and a framework for ongoing individualized stewardship. Those in this group will be added to an exclusive workshop Community in My ADRP in order to have ongoing discussions with the group, ask questions, share pre-work, and even participate in office hours.

In advance of the workshop, attendees will be asked to submit the following:

  • A high-level overview of a specific donor or household’s giving, including date of first gift, giving milestones, and cumulative lifetime giving
  • A summary of the personal relationships the donor values at your institution
  • Two paragraphs about the history of the donor’s relationship with the institution, up to the present
  • One paragraph about short-term strategic goals for the relationship, e.g.:
    • To advance a solicitation
    • To establish a new relationship
    • To repair a relationship/rebuild trust
    • To celebrate an important milestone
    • To support a donor seeking to professionalize their philanthropy by establishing a family foundation
  • One paragraph about long-term goals for the relationship, e.g.:
    • To cultivate a donor for significant volunteer role (trustee, etc.)
    • To cultivate a donor for additional transformative giving
    • To engage a donor’s family and cultivate future support

Learning Objectives
1. Learn the principles of strategic, actionable stewardship planning for individual donors.
2. Experience presentations and case studies showing frameworks for individualized stewardship planning.
3. Discover ways to apply principles to an individual donor by developing an individualized stewardship plan.
