Panelists
Angela Altamore has accumulated a wealth of expertise in donor relations and understands how to create meaningful donor experiences that breathe life into nonprofit missions and resonate in donors’ hearts. She believes there is no better feeling than seeing the joy on a donor's face as they truly understand the impact their generosity has made on another human being.
In her role at BWF, Angela focuses on her passions for donor relations, stewardship, and donor experience, and how each intertwines to drive impactful fundraising. She enjoys collaborating with peers and clients to find new and improved ways to surprise and delight donors. Angela strives to leave the world better than she found it and hopes her life’s work becomes a legacy lasting beyond her lifetime.
Angela has served as a former president, treasurer, and board member for the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP). She currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
Her favorite pastimes include reading, visiting independent bookstores, hitting the open road on her motorcycle, and baking. She also has a love of stationery and enjoys spending time picking just the right card for the right occasion or person.
Carrie Casper is the Associate Vice President of Advancement at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. She joined Illinois Tech in 2008, where she began as a member of the events team and has held roles ranging from stewardship to strategic planning. In her current role, she oversees the “backbone” teams for the office.
Prior to joining Illinois Tech, Casper held positions at Lyric Opera of Chicago and Lincoln Park Zoo, focusing on volunteer management and event planning. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at the University of Illinois, Casper was a proud member of the Marching Illini.
Casper is the immediate past chair of the Development Leadership Consortium board – an organization whose mission is to mentor fundraising professionals in the Chicago area. As well, she is a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association Board of Directors and a past president of the Chicago Illini Club.
Brenda Paulsen has 30 years of leadership experience in academic and medical administration, principally in partnership with clinical department chairs and hospital executives, leading financial, human resource, and administrative activities in support of the tripartite missions of research, education, and clinical services (inpatient and outpatient). She is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She is responsible for all financial, personnel, compliance, administrative, and operational aspects of pediatric basic, clinical, translational, population, and community research administration.
At Children's Health, she was the Senior Vice President, Physician Administration. She provided comprehensive operational support and oversight of the administrative functions within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer. As a hospital executive, Brenda was responsible for Children's Health research administration (clinical, translational, and population health), administrative leadership for graduate medical education and Medical Staff Affairs, the Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence, and University of Texas Southwestern pediatric physician engagement.
Previously, Brenda held leadership positions at the University of Arizona, Duke University, and the University of Michigan, primarily as an administrator for Psychiatry and Medical School Administration. At all three institutions, she successfully collaborated with physician leadership, Medical School administration, and clinical operations and finance (hospital and physician practice) leadership to improve financial performance, optimize clinical operations, and reduce compliance risk. Brenda earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting with a Certificate of International Business from Arizona State University and a Master's of Education, Counseling, and Human Resources (with Distinction) from Northern Arizona State University. Brenda was also awarded a Certified Public Accounting Certificate from Arizona in 1994 (currently inactive).
