Ensuring that Major Gift Officers are uniquely stewarding their donors can be a tricky task. We will talk about strategizing ways to encourage frontline fundraisers to factor stewardship into their long-term plans and run comprehensive portfolio reviews to refresh and re-engage. We will also explore the role Prospect Management staff and policies play in ensuring stewardship of an organization’s best prospects. Join us as we share our unique perspectives to major gift donors from donor relations and relationship management angles.

Presenters

Rebekah Nowak, Senior Associate Director, Donor Relations, Northwestern University

Rebekah Nowak is the senior associate director of donor relations at Northwestern University. She has been in this role for four years and has previously worked on the Reunions Team as well as for the McCormick School for Engineering and Applied Science. In her role, she works with the top donors to the University to steward past future gifts given during the campaign. Previous development experience comes from her time at the Newberry Library and Chicago Botanic Garden. Rebekah received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in public service management from DePaul University.

Brock Silvey, Northwestern University, Apra Board of Directors

As Director of Prospect Research and Management at Northwestern University, Brock has responsibility for strategically shaping all aspects of Northwestern’s prospect development function and partnering with the senior leadership of Northwestern’s department of Alumni Relations and Development in implementing policies and processes that advance the university’s fundraising mission. He has spoken on research and prospect management-related topics at Apra International, Apra Illinois chapter, and CASE events. He is a current member of the Apra Board of Directors. His writing has appeared in Apra Connections and the Journal of Education Advancement and Marketing.
