Building relationships with internal constituents like fundraisers, faculty members, and leadership drastically changes a donor's experience and inspires them to continue giving. Our office has worked to grow relationships across our organization that enable us to create and distribute top-notch donor collateral and tell inspirational stories of impact. In this session, learn how to build relationships with internal colleagues and why impact matters to donors.

Melanie Armstrong
Director, Donor Relations and Engagement
The University of Alabama

Melanie Armstrong is the director of donor relations and engagement at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is responsible for directing institution-wide stewardship and donor relations program for all gifts, with a focus on endowed and major sponsored programs, involving various schools and units. Melanie serves on the UAB Commission on the Status of Women and as member of the IAB MPA Alumni Board. She received her bachelor's degree in sociology and master's degree in public administration with a certificate in nonprofit management from UAB. She has presented at conferences for the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP), the Association of Advancement Service Professionals (AASP), and the Alabama Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a member of ADRP and AASP.
