The face of philanthropy is changing and donor relations must stay ahead of the curve to meet that change (especially considering the conversations that are happening right now on many of our college campuses). According to the US Census, America will be a majority-minority country by 2042, which isn't as far off as it might seem. We cannot remain as we have been, nor can we conduct donor relations in the same way if we are to rise to the challenge. Learn about how our changing population impacts donor relations, and gain tools to be able to navigate relationships with an increasingly diverse donor pool.

Mitra Keykhah

Mitra Keykhah is currently Assistant Director of Donor Relations at Princeton University, where she has worked for the past four years. She is also on the Diversity Committee for Princeton's Office of Development, tasked with creating a diversity plan for development. Before coming to Princeton, Mitra worked in development at StoryCorps, the national oral history project, where she was responsible for fundraising campaigns, government and foundation grants and reports, and board documentation. Mitra holds an AB from Princeton University, and master's degrees from the London School of Economics and the Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Lynne Wester

Lynne Wester is a frequent conference speaker and well known resource for donor relations and fundraising expertise. She has been featured in The Washington Post, CURRENTS magazineThe Chronicle of Philanthropy, and other industry publications.

It is her personal philosophy that the goal of any great fundraising operation is to use strategic communications and interactions to foster the relationship between the organization and its constituents and friends. If we are effective with that strategy, those friends and constituents will be engaged in a way that drives them ever closer to embracing the organization's mission and values. As a result, they will give their money, time, and talents, volunteering to spread that same message to others, encouraging their peers to invest, enabling the organization to further light the world.

Using her expertise and hands-on approach, Lynne works with organizations to help them keep their focus donor driven, technology savvy, strategic, and always with a splash of good humor. She received her undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina and is a loyal gamecock alumna, donor and fan, and holds a master's in strategic fundraising and philanthropy.

As donor information migrates to social platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook, paradigms in development have begun to shift. No longer is social media just an engagement tool. Today, many leading organizations have found success by leveraging social media for prospect discovery, donor relations, and pipeline management. In this session, we will explore the value of social data for fundraising. We'll give a sneak peek into our research on social media and giving, derived from an analysis of $20 billion of data spanning 300+ institutions. Then we will provide tactics and best practices for incorporating social data into your own development operations.

Brent Grinna

Brent Grinna is Founder and CEO of EverTrue. He founded EverTrue in 2010, shortly after serving as a volunteer fundraiser for his undergraduate alma mater, Brown University. This experience led him to realize that the nonprofit world lacked the same technological advances available to the for-profit sector. As donor information began shifting to social platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook, he saw an opportunity to provide advancement teams with highly accurate data accessible through an intuitive interface. Today, EverTrue's software empowers advancement professionals at hundreds of institutions to more easily discover, track, and connect with donors.
